The year was 1976 when the Dutailier Company was established in a small town situated on the outskirts of Montreal known as St-Pie. When the company was first founded, it was engaged in the manufacture of wood components and furniture. At the time, their range of Dutailier glider rockers was limited to only a few models. However, over the years, the company shifted its focus from making assorted living room and bedroom furniture and started focusing on the manufacture of glider rocking chairs.

In 1988, it was decided that the company would concentrate all of its efforts into becoming a major player in the glider rocker industry. Less than 20 years later, Dutailier has achieved what it set out to do and is regarded as one of the leading names in glider rockers today.

With increased research and development, Dutailier was able to design and make rocking chairs that are a class apart and above anything that the market had witnessed till then.
