Pel Glider Rockers - Newcomer in a Competitive Industry

PEL International is a relatively new company in the glider rocker industry. This company was established in 1994 and was borne out of the passion its founder Roger Pelletier had for glider rockers when he designed his first prototype in 1978. Today, Pel glider rockers are an established presence in the industry, being the pioneer in swivel designed glider rockers.

All Pel products are designed with sturdiness in mind. Every frame is studied carefully and designed with 11- to 16-gauge metal round tubing for added stability. No bolts are apparent and deep nuts are welded inside the frame to provide visual appeal and added robustness. However, Pel glider rocking chairs are designed with comfort in mind. As a matter of fact, the first of the three collections is called the Comfort Collection.

The five models of Pel gliding rocking chairs from its Comfort collection have all been built with three motions available – swivel, glide and recline. It comes with a foot stool and a unique ‘NYLATRON’ swivel system to provide a smooth range of motions. Three optional add-ons are available – a cup holder, a nursing or reading arm rest and an optional cover base. The optional cover base hides the swivel from apparent view and make these gliders look like it is a big comfortable armchair, surprising the visitor who sits on it and discovers that not only is it as comfortable as it looks, it rocks too!

Looking more like a classy recliner than a glider rocker, the three models in Pel’s Distinction Collection also boast three ranges of motion much like the Comfort Collection. The difference with these gliding rockers are that they are fitted with a slightly lower back rest in addition to a swivel and swing mechanism that are hidden from view by default. While there are no optional add-ons available, these gliders also come with a foot stool.

On the surface, the final two models from Pel’s Legacy Collection may look like regular sofas with footstools. However, upon closer inspection you will notice that it is indeed a glider. However, unlike the two previous collections, gliders from this collection have been designed with only two ranges of motion – swivel and glide. Nonetheless, they are still comfortable and are fitted with two optional add-ons – a nursing pillow and a nursing bag that attaches to the side of the chair.
